NOTE: Chinook Season Opens on Upper Salmon River
Many anglers have been waiting a long time for the Chinook salmon season that opens June 19.
It has been three decades since the last Chinook season on the upper Salmon River.
The lower boundary of the area open to Chinook fishing is at the Highway 75 Bridge over the mainstem of the Salmon River at milepost 213.5, which is about nine miles west of Clayton. The river is open upstream to the posted boundary about 100 yards downstream from the Sawtooth Hatchery weir.

News Advisory: Fishing the Little Salmon - 2008
A lot more salmon are starting to swim up river, and the flows are dropping but still above normal so that might bring up even more fish! It's still time! Try drifting roe, or shrimp with piece of yarn.
The South Fork Salmon River opened on June 25 and the fish are there, but higher water has slowed fishing.
the South Fork Salmon River will be open from the U.S. Forest Service bridge on Forest Service Road 48 - East Fork South Fork Road/Lick Creek Road - that crosses just upstream from the confluence with the East Fork South Fork Salmon River - upstream about 33 river miles to a posted boundary about 100 yards downstream from the Idaho Fish and Game weir and trap. This season will likely be short and sweet so mark your calendar and stake your spot, it going to be great!
